Warnings: World War II, talk of child killing Themes: friendship, hard decisions
Memory One You are stood in a hut with a man, Crowley. The hut is very simple, clearly lived in. Crowley looks worn out, stressed and uneasy. You probably do too considering the tense conversation you are having. Talk of a world ending, of you returning to Earth thanks to it, but also how that will affect the current world you're in. You are troubled and hesitantly comment on how, apparently, not everyone has a home to get back to.
Memory Two You stand in the ruins of a quite obviously just destroyed building, at night. You are unharmed. There are buildings nearby, London, if you would recognize it as such, but London of the 1940s. There is rubble, flames, sirens blaring, spotlights held up to the sky, the distant sound of terrified people. Next to you, stands Crowley, clad in dark suit, sunglasses and hat.
You hesitate in thanking Crowley for something. Crowley tells you to shut up. You are suddenly very alarmed as you remember about some books he's forgotten, books that will now be completely destroyed. But Crowley plucks a pristine suitcase - definitely from an arm of someone who didn't survive whatever it is that just happened, but don't worry, that's all you can see - and hands it to you. You freeze. Your hands briefly touch as the suitcase is handed off.
"A little demonic miracle of my own. Lift home?"
Crowley smoothly steps away and toward the street, over the rubble. You watch in awe...and some realizations.
Memory Three Aziraphale and Crowley meet up in a bandstand on a cloudy day. They are both clearly tense - Aziraphale a lot more obviously so, uncomfortable and clearly hiding something.
There's some back and forward about finding an "antichrist", to which Aziraphale responds he hasn't. Aziraphale mentions a Great Plan - Crowley angrily curses at the sky about said plan. There's talks about forgiveness, and not wanting it. Crowley, exasperated, starts to walk away. Aziraphale stops him, weakly saying there's nowhere to go.
There's talks about running away, leaving this place behind, together. Rejection. Denial of a friendship, talks about finding and killing a child, which neither seem to want to do.
Aziraphale gets very agitated and claims they have nothing in common, that he doesn't even like them. Crowley claims he does.
It all comes to a head as Aziraphale says they're on different sides, and Crowley claims they're on their side.
"There isn't an 'our side', Crowley. Not anymore. It's over."

Crowley leaves. Aziraphale is close to tears.
