Immediately after setting out from St. Isidore Academy at her School-Live! canonpoint, Yuuri (and the rest of the School Living Club) were scooped up by Nina, an alien woman using dimension-crossing technology to kidnap people from their homeworlds. Her goal was to have them take part in an experiment she was running in an attempt to create a peaceful utopia full of exceptional individuals. To that end, those she kidnapped were given titles relating to their exceptional talents and called "Champions" and put into a life-or-death game, where they were each week given motives in an attempt to push the Champions into killing each other. Each week there would be a murder and each week, the surviving Champions would be forced to investigate the crime and identify the killer or end up dying themselves. This entire affair was filmed and broadcasted to all of space as a "fictional" TV show called Airlocked.
Yuuri debuted in the show's third season as the Champion Green Thumb. As part of the show's gimmick, Yuuri's memory had been tampered with, leaving her to believe that she was coming from a much earlier assumed canonpoint in School-Live. Over the course of the third season, Yuuri grew close to her fellow Champions (in particular: Junpei Tenmyouji, who she later began dating, Ardyn Izunia, Leonard Church and Arianna of Caledonia, among others), all of whom were each instrumental in pushing Yuuri along the path of some emotionally helpful development. Her bonds with these people not only kept her together through the literal trials and tribulation that comes with a murdergame, but also the emotional ups and downs of their memory regains. Because of the odd order in which she regained her memories, Yuuri did not immediately remember that Ruu was dead, or even that she existed at all only to be devestated by the truth when it was finally revealed to her: that she'd not only forgotten her own sister but she'd been so broken by her death that she'd attached herself to a teddy bear to cope. She very nearly fell apart in the aftermath but it was her bonds with the others on the Fantasy Sweet (and in particular, Junpei's promise to eventually find a way to save Ruu) that pulled her back from the edge.
Somehow, against all odds, Yuuri made it to the survivor pool, alongside her closest friend, all of whom had begun to consider themselves an informal family by that point. Managing to escape the facility in which they were trapped, the R2 survivors stole a method of transport and immediate took off across space, fleeing the custody of the Network who had kidnapped them in the first place. With two goals in mind -- Take down the Network and rescue those who had died during Airlocked (who were somehow still alive and being kept captive in some sort of VR program) -- the survivor pool spent the next year or so gradually joining forces with other survivors of Airlocked as well as allies from outside the Network who wanted to see it taken down too. This extra year outside of the game was instrumental in cementing Yuuri's bonds with her new space family and helping her to begin moving past the trauma of both her life at home and her experiences in Airlocked behind her. This was promptly derailed when the Network finally caught up to the survivors and recaptured them, forcing them all back into Network custody for one final season of Airlocked.
In Airlocked round 5, Yuuri... uh, didn't do much of anything because she was unfortunately the first victim. With her Airlocked-related memories temporarily erased, Yuuri once again believed that her little sister was alive and in terrible danger. Her impulsiveness to resolve this issue caused her to be killed (albeit accidentally) by one of her fellow Champions and promptly uploaded to the VR network housing the Airlocked dead (aka 'Deadland'). I'll be straight with you and say that Yuuri didn't really do a whole lot that was notable in Deadland, aside from a handful of things: one week, thanks to outside interference from the survivor's allies, she was able to pass a few messages and some information to the living Champions and then later, when Junpei arrived in deadland as well, the two of them got engaged and settled on spending their lives after Airlocked together in a safe and normal world.
Eventually, faith in each other and their allies lead to the Champions' salvation and they were rescued at the conclusion of the game and saw the Network's legacy dismantled, ensuring that none of them would have to live in fear of returning to the game again. Taking advantage of the Network's technology, Yuuri was not only reuinited with the girls of the School Living Club but also her beloved little sister Ruu, who she'd thought was lost forever. Taking one of their fellow Champions, Akira Kurusu, up on his offer to give them a world to live in, Yuuri & co. hotfooted it over to the P5 world's version of Japan where they've been living a happy and mundane life ever since.
