Information and Communication Points

ICPS: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION POINTS

LOCATIONS, ABOUT

There is an ICP on the table in each bedroom, one in the corridor of each sleeper carriage and one somewhere in every other carriage apart from the Quiet coach. The ICP is a screen with a slot for tickets to be entered into, and they have a number of uses:

~ They are a rudimentary network. There are two buttons at the bottom, one reading ‘voice’ and one ‘video’. Characters can send a message to everywhere or to a specific room or carriage (eg Sleeper 1, Room A or Coach C), and other characters can reply from their carriages. You cannot send messages through to the quiet coach; the only messages that can be heard in there are ones from the train driver.

~ They show messages from the train driver. On a day with no special announcements, the default screen reads:

Today is Day X
Of the Month of Y

This month's thought:

The specifics of this information can be found in the monthly mod post.

Sometimes, there will be train announcements on the speakers (Every morning, there will be a 'good morning passengers' message). Sometimes, there may be longer messages written on the screens from the train. There will be a message on the post to indicate if they can be replied to.

HOW TO USE, FUNCTIONS

To reply to train messages or access the other functions of the ICPs, characters will need to insert their ticket into the side of the screen. A screen will appear showing a list of options:

~ First is the passenger roster. The order of passengers depends on the alphabet used mainly by the individual. Any characters that have died in-game will have a heart symbol underneath their information, one heart for each death.

~ Group task list. The list of chores assigned to each team. (Found on the monthly mod post)

~ Training section. This brings you to a page that shows the training programs available:

• A program for learning to read. It's broken into half hour lessons from the very basics, and saves your progress so you can pause and return to it whenever you like. If your character is already literate, they will realise that though they can read the text perfectly, these aren’t any letters they actually know.

Basic semaphore training.

A game that involves chasing points of coloured light around the screen and pressing them quickly as they reach certain points.

• A First Aid training course. It is broken into modules, so you can save and return. It covers everything from bandaging to CPR. It is a mixture of text, videos using silhouette figures and there is a test after each module.

Mindfulness sessions, relaxation sounds and music. These cover sessions to help with anxiety and depression, and to help boost confidence. It covers general mental health, but also dealing with being in the Void. The sessions and music can be synced to one's SCA, so they can listen via the earpieces provided in the music carriage.

~ Feedback post: There is a permanent feedback and suggestion post on the network. This is for characters giving suggestions or feedback IC. (For ooc feedback and suggestions, go here!)

This post can be replied to in text, as well as voice. Once feedback has been submitted, it disappears from the screen, and a message pops up to thank passengers for their feedback. Therefore, feedback cannot be reacted to by other passengers.

~ Message space: A voice and video diary space on the network. This is for characters to record thoughts and feelings about their journey. These save on the ICP unlike normal messages but cannot be replied to. Please create a top level with your characters name and then post all diary entries under that!

~ Information Pieces: A place to find an archive of information pieces given by the train.
