Void Base

THE VOID BASE

The void base is a very large structure. Voidtreckers won't have access to all areas, as much of it has been turned into emergency housing for those evacuated from World #78961112094711: Osiga. If voidtreckers wish to visit specific people they met on Osiga, this can be arranged through the ministry guides who have been assigned to them. All the living quarters are as spacious as they can be inside a limited structure, but it is clear that the ministry are looking after people as best they can. It will be mentioned that this isn't the only void base where people have been taken.

The voidteckers be in the ministry quarters, which is large enough to not feel claustrophobic whilst utilising as much of the space as possible.

SLEEPING

They will be assigned quarters, put in rooms according to their cabins on the train. However, they will have a little more space than on the train: each 'train cabin' will be assigned a suite here. This consists of a small living area with a basic kitchenette for small snacks, a bathroom and then two bedrooms with twin beds. Those in double rooms will be in similar quarters, except there is just one room with a double bed.

Since they are still in the void, they will be 'reset' to their assigned bed each morning. They will note that this happens to everyone on the base.

There is a communal cafeteria for ministry workers, and the voidtreckers will be free to join them for meals. The food is basic but nutritious.

NETWORK

The Void Base has an internal network through a number of terminals. Their SCA's will allow them access and there are terminals in their rooms as well as in communal areas.

The network is simple enough to use, it uses a message board system. Voidtreckers will need to register a user name to post anything and the network allows voice, video and text posts. The terminals look like data tablets set into walls on onto desks and have a holographic keyboard.

Any of the ministry workers who are assigned to assist them will be able to show the less technologically knowledgeable how to use them.

RECREATION

This being a ministry base, most of the space is used for working. But considering those working here need a break too, there are recreational facilities which the voidtreckers will be allowed to use.

~ There are a few rest rooms, with comfortable seats and access to various entertainment channels, video games, and as well as a library of electronic books. There are screens that hang on walls, a few desks with hardlight screens that can be adjusted for those who like reading at such things; and also portable devices, to read and play from, earbuds and other sound (or vibration-making) attachments available.

~ There is a sports hall and an adjoining gym with fitness equipment and weights. They will be required to either prove that they know how to use the equipment or have a short induction session before being allowed to use it.

~ There is also a swimming pool - the ministry will ask that any children or weaker swimmers are accompanied by an adult whilst using it.

~ Speaking of the children, the ministry will mention that if they get bored they can have access to the play areas in the main base where the civilians are. There are a couple of recreation rooms with a mix of toys and activities for different ages, and also a play park.

~ Lastly, there is the simulation rooms. When you enter the door reading 'SIMULATIONS AND GARDENING', there is a long corridor, five doors on either side. They have plaques announcing their use, and if they're 'PUBLIC' or 'PRIVATE'.
GARDENING
The first four doors are public, and each have a gardening and farming theme: hydroponics, hot house, ice house,, and land. Each have a list of categories under their plaques, which when pressed, will usually provide a list of what's currently being grown in its sub-rooms: Vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs, materials.

When you select any of these, the door will unlock and slide to allow entry into a space specifically catering to that style of growing, and to what's being grown. Not every space is filled, but matches exactly what it's trying to emulate: hydroponics, a soil-less haven; hot houses, indoor gardening; ice houses, plants and more that grow under chilly to freezing temperatures; and good old outdoor farm land.

SIMULATION
The last six doors can be set to public or private, and open into an empty room - not even the walls can be seen. A panel at the side shows a screen waiting, with directions on how to use. While there is quite a list (despite an apology notice for still needing to upload more data), there is the ability to search via keywords, typed, written by finger, or voice-activated. Earth beach, Mozi dunes, prayer room, heaven - a selection can be found, with more precise terms bringing more specific results.

For those who want somewhere more familiar, they can scan their SCA to the pad, and the device will take a few moments to find locations similar to those from where a person came from. They won't always be exact, but can be surprisingly close, somewhere on a planet that might be an alternate version. They look and feel real - even spiritually.

Unless intentionally locked, these rooms can be entered by many people. Adjustments to weather, day and night cycles, seasons, and even gravity can be made. The amount of distance that can be explored is near endless.

TRAINING AND RESEARCH

There is a separate space for sparring and combat training, with holographic training courses and hard-light opponents. Those of the ministry who are at the base will train with the voidtreckers if they are asked to. They have a range of fighting styles, skills, and strength. They will be interested in any unusual training styles that the voidtreckers have.

The main part of the hub however is given over to labs. There are five main labs, and they are always a hive of activity. There are a number of experiments they wish to conduct; though, they will only do so on voidtreckers who consent completely to the experiments.

They won't let voidtreckers poke around unsupervised, but as long as they show that they know what they are doing, or at least know enough about the scientific method to not ruin things or prove they can follow orders they will be allowed to help out.

There are also archive rooms. These are simple quiet rooms with rows of desks that have computer screens embedded in them. These have information about different systems and news reports from various systems. It is not one connected system but a number of different ones, which makes research harder and involves a lot of cross-referencing.
