Application

Applications are currently closed!

This round is closed to previous voidtreckers only. That is any character that you have played in the Voidtrecker Express before. It doesn't matter if you had the character for a few days or played for years.

Because it is our last round there are a few exceptions to our usual app rules:

~ For this round you may go over the capp of 4 characters per person if you wish to and believe you can play them all through endgame.
~ For this round you may app more than one character at a time as long as you believe you can play them all through endgame.
~ Our usual rule on having 3 versions of any character has been lifted. You may re-app a character even if there are three of them in game. As long as it is a previous voidtrecker character they can be played- even if the character has since been apped by someone else.

When apping for this round it would be easiest for us for you to find your original app comment on this page and link it for us in a new comment!

First off, bless you for these questions! So much easier to answer specifics for me than to just explain his personality in a void.

Stubbornness: Ichigo is not the type to quit, ever. He can be actively bleeding and he will still keep fighting. Think the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. At one point he literally had a hole blown through his chest and kept fighting because his hollow took over and kept him going. (Hollows are known as such because they have holes in them where their hearts used to be, so it was no big thing to Zangetsu.) He's also the type to keep others' hopes up in what would otherwise be a hopeless situation because he is the one who will refuse to accept that something is indeed hopeless. He is not rude about it, and he does consider others' thoughts and feelings, but he will also do his best to motivate them. If someone does want to stop or give up, and he hasn't been able to convince them, he will support their choice as long as he knows they won't be in danger. If they will be in danger, he will cover their retreat.

Drive to help: A lot of Ichigo's drive to help comes from being a big brother and the lessons his mother taught him before she died. She always made sure he knew the real meaning of his name, Number One Protector, and told him that as a big brother he would be in charge of protecting his sisters. This grew to include his friends as he gained his powers. His friends also gained powers of their own as a result of constant exposure to his uncontrollable reiatsu, and were then able to stand with him, but he will still throw himself in front of danger to protect others. In the start of the canon, he punishes a group of punks who destroyed a roadside memorial for a young girl because he could see her spirit and knew how sad it made her. So while he does absolutely recognize the strength of others, he will most certainly protect those who cannot protect themselves. It absolutely comes from a place of love and kindness.

Differing views: When people have different views from him, Ichigo will usually be happy to agree to disagree. Unless someone's life is in danger because of it. In his canon, the shinigami who gave him her powers was sentenced to be executed for doing so once the act was discovered. Because her sacrifice had allowed him to save his sisters, this was not something he could let stand, and he went on a mission to save her life. In doing so, he fought her brother. The brother had sworn an oath to his parents' graves that he would never again break a rule like he had when he had married his late wife and when he had adopted his sister, so was supporting the execution ruling. Ichigo felt that this was the sign of a terrible older brother, and did his best to beat this lesson into his opponent. So as long as your different opinion doesn't mean someone has to die needlessly, he's happy to agree to disagree.

Becoming a doctor: Ichigo chose to be a doctor in part because it is a bit expected of him to take over the clinic, and also as a way of helping people. Because of his strong drive to protect and look after others, being a doctor is his way of normalizing that in his human life. Being a shinigami and protecting the souls of the dead is still something that he does, but he knows that he will have centuries if not millennia of that after his death, so he wants to focus on protecting and looking after the living. And he sees being a doctor as the most effective way to do so. In the face of a crisis, now that he's older Ichigo will see where he is needed the most before acting. If they need someone on combat, he will happily jump in head first. If they need a medic, he will focus on that. His biggest drawback will be if he forgets to get his body somewhere safe before jumping into the fray. He won't have his mod-soul to operate his body when he is in his shinigami form, so his body will just...lay there. In the way.

Bullying: Being bullied over his hair color has impacted Ichigo a great deal. He has zero tolerance for bullying, and will step in if he sees it happening, regardless of the circumstances. He firmly believes there is never any justification to judge someone else on anything but their actions. And even then, bullying someone for their behavior is still not okay. Using the recent events on the train as an example, he would be horrified by Xue Yang's behavior in murdering A-Qing, but as Wester is not in a position of authority as a non-council member, Ichigo also would not condone their actions. So he would very much have words with Wester, and would be wanting to leave Xue Yang's punishment up to either A-Qing herself and/or the council since they were elected as the leadership by the passengers.

Expanded sample:

Pressing the combat pass to his chest, Ichigo left his body. It was like being shoved forcefully from behind and in front at the same time. He heard his body land with a thud and turned, grimacing at the sight of it. He was going to have a wicked headache when he got back in it. Picking up his own corpse, since that was basically what it was, was always a strange experience, and he wished he'd had Kon handy instead of just his pass when he'd been brought to the station. At least the mod soul could be trusted to keep his body safe from most things. Still, he tucked it into the narrow cot that was assigned to him, and headed out the door. He wanted to be able to explore the train while feeling safe in case he came across any danger. Besides, he was hungry and could move much faster as a soul. Stepping into shunpo, he rushed through the corridors, dodging other passengers as he zipped past them on his way to the front of the train. It was interesting how much had been fit into such a narrow space, as well as how long the train was in general. When he got to the medical car, he stopped, chewing on his lip for a moment. Would the others on the train be able to see him like this? If he went in and asked to be put to work, would anyone know? He decided to give it a try, and knocked on the door to await an answer. It couldn't hurt to ask, right?

Bonus: a small snippet from the recent TDM. It only has a few tags so far, not enough on its own, but hopefully it will be helpful for you. TDM with a character from the same canon.

Ah, I knew I was forgetting something, lmao... My b.

Elevator Incident Elaboration:

During the final round, Junpei decided to to make his way up a recently discovered (and subsequently broken) Anti-Gravity elevator. As the shaft was empty, thanks to the elevator using anti-gravity to move people around, he got the idea to construct a very strong electromagnet. Using that and some rope, he decided to Spider-Man his way up the wall of the elevator shaft... so he could go confront and try to fight the current Overseer - PAL - with that same magnet, as it was a robot.

Heart happened to come across Junpei doing so in the dead of night, decided this sounded like a suicide mission, trying to talk Junpei out of it, rather sick of seeing his friends die. It's a rare occasion when Heart is the one advocating for caution, but he didn't want to lose a friend to an idea this stupid. When Junpei did not listen, he tried to pull him down using the rope he was attached to...

...Only for the anti-gravity to turn off right that moment. Rather than gently pulling Junpei down, he lost his grip on the wall, plummeting down. Dead on impact.

Distraught at actually being the accidental cause of his friend's death, Heart spent some time blue screening, before moving Junpei's body to the holo-room - setting it to look like the garden from Round 2 - and taking the magnet.

He kept the magnet in his pocket during the trial, never intending on getting away with anything. Once the magnet was discovered, he simply confessed his crime. From the moment he killed Junpei, he knew execution was imminent. But rather than simply submit to the execution as it happened, he used that magnet to do... exactly what Junpei had been planning. He fought his way through the execution and went for their robotic overseer, using the electromagnet. There was simply no way he could just die quietly. No matter the result, he wanted to go down fighting. In the end, though, the overseer let out a scream in binary - "I can't stop I don't want to" - making Heart hesitate ever so slightly. And giving enough of an opening for PAL to crush Heart's head. Killing him.

The incident left him reeling rather badly in Deadland, but pretty much everyone assured him they did not blame him and still cared for him, which helped. He still feels guilty, of course, but that allowed him to move on from it enough, at least.

OKAY! Here goes!
Wei Wuxian is willing to strip naked for you—though Lan Zhan might object.

Wei Wuxian puts the happiness of those he cares about over himself. He sacrificed his Golden Core because of how devastated his brother was to lose his. He left his Sect because the survivors of the Wen clan needed to be saved and no one else was willing to do it--which is a little bit of his self-sacrifice, little bit of his devotion to Justice. Has this gotten him into trouble--yes, very much so. He ended up with basically the whole world against him, but even then, his regrets were for those he felt he let down, not for himself. He is willing to go against the world if he feels it is the right thing. Though as a wiser man, he will do his best not to make Wangji suffer, so I think he will take that into consideration now, as opposed to in his first life. He's learned a lot about what it means to love, and to be someone's partner. So that is his line in the sand now. Lan Zhan.

The way I see his life going, if on the train, is to take advantage of the fact that there are people here who can help him regain his skills in the sword and bow. Back home, he is probably training in secret (he thinks *cough*rabbitsrathimouttoLanZhan*cough*), because he won't carry his sword in public until he is what he once was with it. That also means training so that Mo Xuanyu's Golden Core is much stronger. So he'll try to avoid using the resentful energy when he can. Though he won't shy away from it if he needs to (see above, re: self-sacrificing).

What regrets does he have? He has made peace with his past, for the most part. What happened to his sister and her peacock are at the top of his list, but he cannot change the past, he can only do his best to make sure those mistakes are not made again, and do right by his nephew. Even if the boy insists on having that dog. *shudder*

Look, I was quoting the wiki, in that one--but he murdered those of the Wen clan who were actively bullying, murdering, and terrorizing others, and protected those of the Wen clan whom others wanted to paint with the same brush even though they were not involved. He does not approve of the victors pursuing Revenge. Once Justice is done, it is done.

Other protecting he has done: He protected the Juniors in Yi City, he protected everyone he could on Dafan Mountain, in the web series he even protected the rabbits. Things he does not protect: the rules, and other people's sensibilities. If you have done wrong, he's going to call you on it.

He wants to be the best he can for Lan Zhan, though his idea of best and Lan Zhan's might not be exactly the same. :) He is helping train the Gusu Lan juniors, he will always stand by Wen Ning, he will do right by his nephew, even if his brother is being stubborn. I wouldn't say he intends to be a different person--more that he knows he has friends and family who will back him, and so he feels he can be more successful this time around, now that the poison has been leeched from the cultivator world. He's not above using his reputation, though, if he needs to!

Okay, a solo introspect-y piece, gotcha!

Wei Wuxian was sitting in the field of rabbits, chewing on a piece of grass, staring up at the clear sky, when Lan Sizhui found him. “A-Yuan,” Wuxian said with a smile. “What brings you out here?”

“With Hanguang-Jun not present at Cloud Recesses, it falls on us juniors to make sure the rabbits are fed,” Lan Sizhui said, smiling at him fondly. “Or have you already done so?” he asked, pausing before uncovering the basket he'd brought.

“No, no, I don't feed rabbits, they feed me,” Wuxian protested. Oh, sure he might have brought some vegetables with him when he'd arrived earlier, but they'd been for a snack, in case he'd gotten hungry. Not for the rabbits who had eaten them, definitely not.

Lan Sizhui smiled again and set the basket down and started parsing out the vegetables, to make sure each rabbit got some.

Wuxian laughed after a moment. “Seeing you amongst the vegetables, it feels natural somehow. Do we need to water you some more? You haven't grown much in the past few months.”

“What? No, no, Senior, I am just fine,” the other protested, turning slightly pink. “Though...do you think I might someday be as tall as Hanguang-Jun?” he asked.

“You never know what the future will bring,” Wuxian said with a grin, letting go of the rabbit he'd been holding so that it could get some more vegetables. “For example, I got shorter. Who could have predicted that, I ask?”

Lan Sizhui was quiet for a moment, his face growing serious. “Does...does that bother you, Senior?” he asked softly. “That you are in a body not your own?”

Wuxian shook his head immediately. Then he paused a long moment as he actually thought about it. “No. Honestly, it does not. While I was better looking, taller, and more athletic, at least I have a body now.” He stood up and stretched, then promptly sat back down again. “I very much like that part.”

“What...what was it like, being dead?” Lan Sizhui asked, curious.

“I don't know,” Wuxian answered with a grin. “I don't remember being dead. I remember dying. And, when I awoke in Mo Xuanyu's body, I remembered that I had been dead, but I have no memories of the time I spent dead. Apparently my spirit did not roam the world, as some do. I'm sure that shocked a lot of people, that my spirit wasn't out and about creating mischief while I was dead.”

“Jiang Cheng would have found it if it were,” Lan Sizhui said. Jin Ling had told him of his uncle's obsession with the Yiling Patriarch.

Wuxian had encountered a bit of that obsession himself. His relationship with his brother was...interesting still. The other hadn't quite forgiven him for everything he'd done, and had guilt for the things he'd done that he felt had nudged Wuxian onto his path, but Wei Wuxian did not blame him for the things he'd done. He'd made his own choices, to do his best to keep his promise to Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan to protect their son. It would have been nice if Jiang Cheng had backed him up when he had argued with Jin Guangshan, but it had not happened; his brother had been too new and uncertain in his leadership. Of course Wei Wuxian would have done it differently, but then he always did. He smiled at his son. “Did I ever tell you the motto of my clan, the Yunmeng Jiang Sect, that is?”

“Attempt the Impossible, isn't it?” Lan Sizhui asked. “Senior seems to embody that motto quite well.”

“Attempt, do, it's just a matter of actually trying, don't you agree?” Wuxian asked with a grin.

“Do you think,” Lan Sizhui asked thoughtfully after a moment, “do you think that someone might bring back Xue Yang the same way?”

“My coming back was not a weird accident or string of random occurances,” Wei Wuxian pointed out. “It was orchestrated from the beginning. I was chosen as the 'extremely villanous ghoul' by reputation alone, the mastermind actually respected me for my other fine qualities, you know.”

“You have fine qualities, Senior?” Lan Sizhui asked, cheekily. He ducked the carrot that Wuxian threw at him.

“Did I not literally piece together the mystery of Nie Mingjue's body?” Wuxian demanded. “And I did it while seducing Lan Zhan, to his uncle's eternal dismay,” he added with a grin. It was neither here nor there than Lan Zhan required absolutely zero seducing, simply a recognition that he had feelings for the stoic man and then acting on them. “Plus, I managed to save all you juniors...how many times? Let's see, there was Mo Village, Dafan Mountain, Yi City, Tanzhou...”

“Yes, yes,” Lan Sizhui said, waving his hand to stop the litany of times they'd needed to be saved. “We are still juniors, after all,” he pointed out. “But we are learning, with the help of Senior and Hanguang-Jun. For which we are most grateful.” He held his hands out and bowed respectfully, in fact.

To be honest, Wei Wuxian enjoyed teaching. Far more than he ever thought he would when he was a young, different young, man back in Yunmeng Jiang Sect. He did tease the juniors, but they were an excellent group of young men and were going to be fine cultivators someday. Several of them already were.
