Character Shenanigans!

Sometimes things happen that may have consequences further down the line. Sometimes characters decide to do things that might have immidiate reprecussion. As mods we want to have our fingers on the pulse of the game as it were, but we are also aware that we won't be able to read every single thing!

So that's where this post comes in. If your character has done something 'noticable' that you think we might need to know about, throw us a link here. Some might require a response, some will just be noted.

Example: "Over *here* my character is trying to smash the windows of the engine!"

Sometimes you might have an idea in mind that you believe will have consequences and be in the midst of writing the thread, however you want to know what those consequences will be for threads going forward. Or you might still be in the planning stages and would like to know how things might pan out. That's also what this post is for!

Example: "At the end of this event my character is planning to not rejoin the train and instead ride off into the sunset! What happens?"

Snow Day!

To help people with the recent stresses, Elidibus would like to set up a snow day. To this end he's going to- with Emporio's discreet help- manipulate the aether of the rock garden carriage to maintain snow-worthy temperatures while Emporio uses Weather Report to create the actual snow. The 'weather' will be set up as early as possible on the day of (or the evening 'before' to make sure there's enough snow) and confined to the rock garden.

With probably a station for hot drinks in the adjacent games carriage. If this is okay, Elidibus will also be tagging a request to reopen the dressing carriage for winter gear to this feedback with a small explanation of his plans.

The carriage will be returned to its normal state the next day.

Elidibus (with Xehanort's player permission) attempted to place a tracing spell on Xehanort. It would have been tracing his soul opposed to his body. I know this doesn't track past the barrier but does it give the vibe of being dispelled or 'possibly still present but signal jammed'.

(His aim would have not so much been 'can I track this beyond the barrier' as 'if I run into a Xehanort again I will know which is the one I knew' or 'if we ever locate where these souls go, maybe the ping of the trace will indicate they're around')

The spell will be dispelled once he leaves the barrier.

'No Place Like Home' event!

Tidus, along with his collection of messages will - as his aggravation grows - will start trying to bust up the train!! He'll go for the ICPs in a few locations - the storage room, standard (unless he's stopped there), sports, games - and he'll try using weapons and magic on the doors, the windows.

Also, bowling balls. Because there's bowling balls in the sports gym. AND THEN THERE'S WEIGHTS IN THE TRAINING GYM TO THROW AT SOME DOORS AND WINDOWS.

He'll also be shouting at the storage room 'engine wall' about 'Open the stupid doors already! Let us help!'

Someone is trying to get the train's attention.

Also noting here that Tidus will be tattling on the train around late Poi 23 or around Poi 24 by using the emergency button the inspectors put on his void radio!!

There is absolutely no way this could backfire at all.

Talking about busted ICP terminals,

Seeing one busted is going to trigger An Attempt out of a few reckless, foolhardy intrepid souls bonding together over the idea that if the train won't talk to them, maybe they can trigger a talk with the train!

The plan so far:
(Suspected, still awaiting a confirmation), Tidus busts up an ICP terminal, most likely on Poi Day 24.
Which prompts the idea that if it's a computer, and the train is a computer with a soul, can they connect to the train using a VR headset?
blue_ice will connect his computer to the broken ICP terminal
Connect a VR headset to the computer, with it also monitoring the subject's (Esteban) vital signs
firewalled will be on standby and ready to add his own SQUIP to the connection in case everything goes south, and to provide insight into any progress they make

Esteban is definitely attempting to communicate with the train, rather than doing anything to control it. If it has a voice, and enough of a soul to form its own conclusions, he thinks that it's a being, and is actively attempting to talk to it on semi-equal grounds, hopefully. Maybe negotiate, or reason with it.

Slight alteration, Rich / firewalled had been planning to be off the train during the event. They might be absent, or might decide to stay on the train to help out with this (it's unconfirmed at the moment)

Should I set up a different TL for Esteban once they connect him to the train (assuming they get that far)?

Questions that probably should have been asked much earlier than this:
Is the connection even going to work? (I assume it would, seeing as I offered to make a TL specifically for Esteban in the VR, but I might not have been clear enough at the intentions of this TL)

Would it be best to have a separate TL with only Esteban, or should the thread continue on, with Esteban, Kaiba and Tidus all included on the going-ons?

Is Esteban still conscious, or mobile at all after they attempt to connect him to the train via VR?

Can Tidus and Seto hear him or interact/communicate with him or would that break his concentration/connection?

Hello! Just some broad lines I would like to establish since the second part of the event is going to come up soon!

Now, I know that Esteban will be available for part 2 (that was asked on Discord), but his mood and goals are going to be vastly influenced by what he has managed (or not) to do with the train.

Esteban is not the best to BE of much help, to be fair; but he is going to offer all that he is (magic, shapeshifting, his soul, if that's what it needs) to give the train any edge into being able to sort itself out. (Impulsive? Esteban? Never!) It's a bit like having him throw himself at a wall and see what part sticks. Whatever help he can offer, he will follow through with it.

The second part, is that Esteban is definitely approaching the train with this... "I will make you my friend, and that is a threat 💛" attitude. He's not likely to take a 'no' lying down, even though communication is rough. Esteban IS gathering that the Train does not communicate At All on the same wavelength as they do, though, and will eventually ask it--them? to teach him their language.

(Drawing this conclusion from a lot of hear-say. "It seemed to pay attention", and that it "had to download a language module to better communicate with the VoidTreckers", lots of little pieces of the puzzle that he's slowly placing together). And Esteban for all of his foolishness does speak three languages fluently and is clearly proactive in learning new ways to communicate. (Thanks Amaya~)

If that is successful at all, of course, I will wait until this happens in the thread to let it influence any other happenings around, but I just wanted to mention it as a warning for what is coming from Esteban's side.

(Also, do let me know if the thread is too much to deal with; I prefer having concrete "this happened/this was said", but if a handwave would be less pressure to deal with, I am alright with doing a handwave of the entire scene too!)

The thread is fine. Sorry about the delay- things should speed up on my part now, Wednesdays don't really exist.

Communication is rough and it won't accept anything like soul/powers/etc off Esteban. But they will get some information out of the train even if it won't exactly be what they were expecting. I don't plan for the thread to be long so it should be done by the time part 2 comes up.

Spring Day Garden Question/Request

Is there anything foreseeable between March mission and next platform day planned that would get in the way of doing a 'Spring Garden Day(s)' for the rock garden, ala Snow Day?

I would like to see if it's okay to set up things again (Elidibus taking a more supervisory role because of his condition this time and probably asking Emet-Selch to stand in for him if Rachel's on board with it.) Also have an OOC post up looking for early interest in case mod approval is good! The post is here.

This time I would like to extend it a little as well, for 2-3 days (Platform Day +2 IC days). If the time's too long or this wouldn't parse with upcoming events please let me know!
