Character Shenanigans!

Sometimes things happen that may have consequences further down the line. Sometimes characters decide to do things that might have immidiate reprecussion. As mods we want to have our fingers on the pulse of the game as it were, but we are also aware that we won't be able to read every single thing!

So that's where this post comes in. If your character has done something 'noticable' that you think we might need to know about, throw us a link here. Some might require a response, some will just be noted.

Example: "Over *here* my character is trying to smash the windows of the engine!"

Sometimes you might have an idea in mind that you believe will have consequences and be in the midst of writing the thread, however you want to know what those consequences will be for threads going forward. Or you might still be in the planning stages and would like to know how things might pan out. That's also what this post is for!

Example: "At the end of this event my character is planning to not rejoin the train and instead ride off into the sunset! What happens?"

Manabu would like to open up some floor panels in cabin 1:B to see if he can observe any electronics/piping/mechanisms! Please advise of any hindrances/hijinks possible.

The floor in the cabins is made of two large panels - one from door to centre and one from centre to window. There is no obvious way to open them (handles etc) but it can be done by applying some leverage and brute strength to the seams. The one nearer the door will be easier as it doesn't have the table leg to contend with but it will be awkward and might need more than just him.- He can probably lever it to slide on top of the second panel somewhat but just lifting it up will be tricky because the beds, even when folded, are a hindrance. Of course he could cut a section out if he had the right equipment...

However if he manages to get under it he will see mostly what he expects to. Pipes that are likely for heating/water run length ways and a series of wires to various points (two lead towards the table, he can probably guess to power the ICP, others towards the walls).

Let me know if he wants to fiddle with any of the wiring and good luck putting your room back together Manabu!

Hey so Tony is wanting to put together an inventory list for supplies available on the train and a questionnaire to start finding possible patterns in who was abducted by the train monsters (joking). I'm guessing the inventory list isn't going to be a problem as you've pretty much spelled it out already in the setting details, but would it be possible/ okay to get some kind of thing posted somewhere for people to do IC?

He is very welcome to do so! There is no ability to type on the ICPs but he can definitely make an inventory and questionnaires using his notebook.

When you mean posted do you mean a static post? Like on the mod journal where the information can be archived?

Yes, if Tony is able to find the tools (he can find basic tools on the world they are on if the offer was made during/before then) then he should be able to fix it and it can be in working order.

Hey Morgan,

I am guessing here you are asking for small places on the train?

The whole train is pretty tight and cramped including the bedrooms. The smallest places are the trunks/cases in the storage carriage but the only way she would end up in there without climbing in one or another character putting her in one would be if she died or disappeared on hiatus as they wake up in them.

Other small places include the dumb waiter (again she would have to climb into it) or the bathrooms (probably more feasible), there is one larger bathroom at the front end of each sleeper carriage with a shower but they are still pretty small. The other side has single toilets (and there are more scattered across the train) which are just big enough for a toilet, a sink and someone to stand between them.

Kumoko will turn the dressing room car into a spider nest. There's a six-foot-tall passageway kept clear through the carriage so you can get to the luggage car easily (unless you're taller than six foot. Weird!) and there's still access to the furniture, but otherwise it's a nest of comfy silk hammocks and beds.

Does it stay around overnight?

For the Culin'e'ai missions, Renee's not sticking with Purple and there's an off chance she's with one of the other teams at any given time. For example she was with Blue during one of the nights during the middle of the missions, and she went to give a status report to Tony with Red as well.

Alright! She can fly so that's fine, though depending on how fast she can fly it's still going to be a couple of hours flight between Culin'e'ai and Um'i'les. Once team purple get to the keep is she sticking around or returning to the blue or red team?

I'm wondering if Tony can pick one or two of the chairs in the standard carriage to basically destroy for parts. So far there hasn't been a need for as many seats as there are and he needs metal and other things to build Maedhros' new arm.

I'm happy to take on whatever consequences will befall him for acting like a crazy man, but I won't if it'll cause too many problems.

Two quick things-

So Joss and Tony have a plan for Joss to go running at someone who is leaving the train and trying to catch them. I don't know how you feel about this, but what if on the next platform, Heiji is seen leaving the train like that and gets tackled and 'saved' by Joss?

Also idk if I told you or not, but Tony has painted the glass of his quiet room to try so he can have a little more privacy.

Do you mean Heiji pretend he is leaving/tries to leave by following those that do and Joss "saves" him? Because yes if Heiji wants to put on his best zombie detective act in an escape plan that's fine-even if Joss didn't save him he couldn't get through the barrier.

I am an awful person and brought an awful character into this game and I have awful questions to go along with all my awful.

Can 47 use the medical supplies on hand to create poisons and sedatives, or will the train somehow forbid him from doing this? If he takes items from one carriage with the intent to keep, will he be able to keep them permanently or will they go back to where they belong at the end of the day? (Such as said medical supplies or balls from the gym or knives from the kitchen?) And can 47 create explosives from anything onboard the train such as cleaning supplies? ...And golf balls. It's a thing.

The train will not forbid the use of medical supplies for awful purposes.

Anything he takes will stay with him and not go back to where he found them at the end of the day so he can steal all the knives and balls he wishes.

Yes if he has the knowledge (and I assume he does) he can make home grown explosives from cleaning supplies, assume a basic level of cleaning chemicals as they get replenished on platforms rather than stored in bulk (though he is welcome to hoard them).

The first chunk of things he sees are all the characters who ever interacted with the wall. So if you wish to go back and find the threads Will can have knowledge of those scenes.

So Yuffie is all Shenanigans and I thought it best to start now with ideas and consequences because I don't want to pull any punches as she gets in trouble. It's really the only way that Yuffie learns.

To start. She got orange team and she's going to do everything she can to avoid being identified as a member of the orange team. I don't know if that's possible. She's going to take off her watch until she can color the band another color (like black) and steal peoples things and trade them with her own (which I'm going to ask people about) but I wasn't sure if that was entirely possible. I had kinda decided that if she got red or orange that this would be her reaction since she always wears cool colors in canon.

Follow up. She's going to steal things from people and while I do want to work it out IC, I don't know if there is a way to have that come back and bite her in the ass but I get the feeling that's an ooc work out not a mod thing.

One thing that is totally a mod thing is that Yuffie is going to try really hard to open a window and as a new-ish player I have NO idea what will happen or if its even possible.

I do apologize for her in advance but hopefully I can mitigate some of her terror by being open on an ooc level. I'd like for her to get in trouble because that will help with character development since it usually takes a castmate to get Yuffie to stop.

Thank you again and I apologize for rambling. My thoughts are firmly set since she hasn't formally entered the game yet but I will keep everyone updated in her silliness.

Stealing other peoples clothes is fine as long as you chat to them ooc about it! Any consequences of that will come from the characters she is robbing off, I am sure! She is also able to remove the watch, though let me know if she is removing it whilst not on the train! On the train it is fine not to wear it. Colouring it should be possible depending on how she plans to do it.

Opening a window won't be possible. There aren't any catches or hinges or ways to open the windows. She can try and break it but will find that no matter how strong she is, how much she throws at it and whatever she tries they cannot be broken. Have fun trying Yuffie!

As you know Feanor and Tony and probably others have been working on creating a communicator through the watches or some other device. I was wondering if there was a way Tony could link his suit's communication system to Ignis' cell phone.

As of the moment there isn't. He is welcome to be trying. But technology from two different worlds are tricky to link.

He can probably get to the stage where he can link them to the ICP and connect them that way.

It would be glitchy though, sometimes broadcasting their conversations on the ICP. And would only work in range of the train.

So, Nita is about to ask some Questions in the Speech (which, for practical purposes, isn't quite the same thing as psychic powers, though psychotropic spells are a canonical subdivision).

The machinery she's about to talk to includes the SCA itself (to determine what it's for - and later where it's from/was made) and, of course, the Train.

Can she (or the peridexis) expect any answers? :P

She will get silence to all her questions from the SCA.

When she speaks to the train (/Excuse me, how did you get the authorization for this augmentation, and what authority do you answer to?/) she and the peridexis will get no answer, but there is definitely the sense of listening- she is being ignored, rather than not connecting.

So! I don't know how to phrase this. Well, as you know Piccolo wants to escape so what would happen? I kinda would like a description of the platform to know what's around him. I've always wondered if a majority of the platforms are outdoor or indoor platforms...or if anyone ever notices with the fog obscuring the area. Anyway! Need to know the ceiling of the platform and if it's visible or invisible (magical) for flying away purposes, and what if anything can be damaged by blasts???

Hi

So this platform at least is outside- hence the rain! It is not huge, but large enough to not be too crowded once everyone is off the train greeting people. There are walls all around it except for the tracks. At one of the long ends there are the barriers where those that dropped/idled disappeared through.

Nothing will be damaged by blasts (except other people and their belongings). He won't be able to get through the barriers, as if there is an invisible wall. If he tries to fly up he will realise after a bit that though he feels he is flying, he is not getting any higher- if he keeps trying to fly his SCA will start doing the danger beep.

Assume the peridexis has continued talking about some of its adventures with Nita&co after the dream event's end. The entries are part-matter-of-fact-reports, part-contemplative-reflection in tone, and are kept as quiet as possible.

Occasionally it wonders if the train (or just the Voidtreckers effort in general) has been on similar adventures, as well as why they haven't crossed paths or heard of each other before.

I'd like to finally put up those garden boxes. There's a small one in 1:A since Sarai requested one but more importantly:

There's one luggage sized garden box in each of the carriages (minus Sleepers and Medical) put as out of the way as possible. That's one for Luggage, Dressing, Games, Gym, Standard, Quiet, Dining, and Stores. The Garden carriage has four boxes so far, one for each corner. More will probably be added later. 47 left out Medical for sanitary reasons though someone could convince him to put one there eventually, too. Or make their own. Or request one and not tell him where they put it. XD They can also request small personal boxes for Sleepers or whatever if anyone see this and wants to handwave some CR!

Anyway! Thought maybe it was a good time to add that to the list of changes to the train. I'm sorry I took this long... (47's probably had this finished for a week or two by now.)

Can I have a quick descrption of the garden boxes themselves. I understand they are in suitcases. Are there plants that he has gotten from worlds? Are they mostly soil right now? Or are they little rockeries? Just so I can put it up on the setting!

I mentioned in her application that SXT-2 can connect to electronic devices, much like your laptop connects to your home/work wifi and it only takes one login process before the two pretty much recognise each other as familiar.

Is it possible for her to at least be hooked up to the ICP network & her own SCA, and be to access all the information on it while she's on board? (oocly, it'd make life much easier for her from a character design/accessibility standpoint).

Other than the comms network which is the most obvious case, are there any other appliances she can connect to? SXT-2 relies a lot on appliance data to understand what's going on around her, so her exploration of the train will also involve seeking out those things. Are the lights / ventilation networks accessible? Single android is looking for wifi-enabled dishwashers in her area.

Yes it is possible for her to be connected to both her SCA and the ICP. Though she would still need to be next to an ICP to use the network part of it (if she would even do so). She can have access to all the things that passengers can access (as on the ICP and SCA pages)

Other accessible things are lights, ventilation, heating, washing machines in the laundry room, most of the kitchen appliances like oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle- they run on a basic network which seems mostly there for emergency protocols but is accessible on a very surface level. The carriage are connected too and the screens at the doors of the cabins (she will not be able to open any cabin but her own. But she can read the screen data- which is the names of the occupants)

She won't be able to get into anything deeper than that (nothing connected to the running of the train or any life systems.) The heating/lights/ventilation she will be able to read the data of but not control in any way.

So in this thread, are there any worlds/landscapes people who have not been on the train would recognize?

This applies to most new Voidtreckers, not just Nita; would canonical off-Earth travelers (or those not from an Earth to begin with) recognize any of the photo locations, or find them similar to places they have been?

Secondly, Nita is also likely to (read: shortly going to) run a diagnostic scan on the stereoscope and the photos themselves, to discern (well, attempt to) what materials they are made of and, if possible, what mechanism was used to take them. And, on a hunch, will also be running it to detect if the photos were altered in any way.

1) No. People who have not been on the train long will not recognise the worlds/landscapes specifically (a lot of them are very generic pretty mountain, pretty field of flowers which are sort of impossible to place anyways). They will not look like anywhere Nita or any other off-Earth traveller has been before.

2) This is a magical diagnostic scan yes? She willfind the stereoscope is made of a purple material that though not exactly plastic has similar properties (is pretty durable). The photos are made of film though she will be able to tell they were taken in a more digital manner and then printed onto the film for the purpose of the stereoscope. They have been altered but it seems only in ways to make them more photo worthy (filters and such to make the light just right and to polish up the quality of the image)

Nita's going to try and follow the people leaving this time, given she was too out-of-sorts when she arrived to do much of anything when she arrived and wants to make more of an effort.

(She's not actually trying to leave herself, just to be clear - only see how far she can follow them.)

What should she be able to note? Does she make it up to the gate, is there a noise signifying her ticket is rejected, does her SCA beep at her? That sort of thing.

She will make it to the gate, she can even show her ticket if she wishes but it won't open. There is no noise, but the gates don't open. If she tries to physically get through the gates her SCA will beep. She won't be able to hold the people back at all, they will just keep walking.
