Library
LIBRARY
This a double carriage. On the bottom floor there is a corridor running along one side, with a door to enter the carriage itself in the middle of the corridor. Up the stairs on either end of the carriage, the space is open, relatively. We will not OOCly be tracking books being checked in and out. If a book is not being returned, please reply to that book's comment to let people know that it isn't available.
Downstairs appears similar to a public library. The walls are painted brightly and lined with shelves, most of which are empty. Labels indicate that fiction books should be stored here. The wall facing the door is alternating windows looking out into the Void, and posters that seem to be large, blown-up book covers for the more popular fiction books in the train.
Four tables with linked chairs are spaced throughout the car, each one painted one of the team colours, and beanbag chairs similar to those found in the Games carriage can also be seen scattered in a pile in one corner.
A little wooden train with shelves built into it winds its way through the tables, its shelves filled with all of the previously-purchased Merry Little Void Train literature and the first book of several of the encountered but unpurchased MLVT series, including several colouring books. There's room on its shelves for far more than it currently contains. Kheli the rabbit is painted leaning out of the engine window, waving.
Along the far wall to the right are two scanning machines, which can do the following: register new books - as a helpful tutorial on the screen will inform you; provide summaries of books if given a specific title; or check books out if presented with a valid ticket. Passengers can have up to eight books checked out at a time; if someone walks out of the carriage carrying a book not checked out by them, the ICP speakers in that carriage will beep obnoxiously for ten seconds.
Upstairs resembles an academic library. The wall next to the stairs is a similar bank of windows as downstairs, although lacking the colourful posters, instead dotted with landscape paintings of previously visited worlds and unknown worlds both. Rows of shelves divide the space into six smaller workspaces, each with a single-person desk with lamp and bookstand and another window above, bracketed by shelves on either side. The bookshelves muffle sound, creating semi-private spaces around each desk.
The shelves are empty, with labels on each shelf indicating that non-fiction books belong up here.
Please comment below with any books your character is registering with the library computers, using the following form, to either the fiction or non-fiction top level and under the correct genre or subsection with the book's title as the subject header:

ACTION/ADVENTURE
Scalewood
Description: The Gvua are a race of small lizard like humonoids who live a peaceful existence. Siku is bug farmer who lives on the outskirts one of the towns. One day her life is changed forever when a war faring race of aliens - who from description seem very similar to Earth's red pandas, except sentient and bloodthirsty - attack from the skies.
The Gvua are hunted and scattered, Siku must fight for not just her survival but the survival of her entire people.
No Stone Unturned
Description: A fantasy novel about a farmer whose son is snatched by monsters. He goes on a journey to find him and bring him home.
Essentially it is a martial arts/swordart novel full of brutal fights as the man fights his way through a land of monsters and war. It is an easy read despite the many fight scenes and the main themes are doing whatever it takes, no matter how terrible, to keep those you love safe. The child is rescued and the novel ends with them returning home- though it reflects at the end that the home they long for- that of safety and innocence- is no more after everything they have been through and done.
Warrior's Curse
Description: A young woman wakes up in a mountain camp. She has been sold as a pit fighter for the crime of murdering her younger brother. However she has no recollection of that. She has no recollection of anything, not even her name. Despised for crimes she cannot remember committing and forced to fight she must learn to survive this harsh world.
She wins herself allies, some turn into friends, she gains reputation as a pit fighter and tries to piece together her past.
Tree Top Warriors (graphic novel)
Description: Five crime fighting, tree swinging monkeys are here to save the day! Not as childish as it sounds it is a comic book about five monkeys in a world where it seems everyone are animals. After someone from their village is hurt in a vicious attack they wonder why no one stepped in to help.
They then realise they could be the ones that help and so begins their adventures.
Cicaider Nano (graphic novel)
Description: Even if God or the Buddha cannot answer you, there will always be Cicaider. This story parallels the plot of Kamen Rider Build, with some surprising divergences from the plot, starting with Nano being the first female mainline Cicaider.
Tomorrow's Rainbow (suspense, dystopian)
Description: A collection of strangers struggle along a faint track, shooting fearful looks over their shoulders. Their home is under attack, forcing them to flee everything they've known... until the evacuation all goes wrong, and the petty enemies of yesterday become today's allies. A surprisingly heart-warming tale of friendship in unlikely circumstances.
Reign (graphic novel, political, volume 1)
Description: Two children, Hue and Zio, are selected as the next ruling pair of Erythar, and their long journey to imperial power begins. The first issue deals with the two getting to know each other and their new surroundings in the towering brass spires of the capital. The art style is abstract though gorgeous, and while the expressions can seem a little off sometimes, the comic is very easy to follow visually.
Volume 2
The Princess Bride (drama, romance)
Description: Beautiful, flaxen-haired Buttercup has fallen for Westley, the farm boy, and when he departs to make his fortune, she vows never to love another. So when she hears that his ship has been captured by the Dread Pirate Roberts - who never leaves survivors - her heart is broken. But her charms draw the attention of the relentless Prince Humperdinck who wants a wife and will go to any lengths to have Buttercup. So starts a fairytale like no other, of fencing, fighting, torture, poison, true love, hate, revenge, giants, hunters, bad men, good men, beautifulest ladies, snakes, spiders, beasts, chases, escapes, lies, truths, passion and miracles.
My Lord's Moon (fantasy, drama)
Description: An outlaw mage, running from those who accuse her of hideous crimes begins a dangerous trek across the mountains, separating her home from the neighboring land.
War has been a constant between the two nations and now she must live among her enemies, gather allies and prove her innocence. Will she ever see her home again?
The Circle of Hope
Description: Bi'aca has lived a tough life, hunted across the galaxy by those who would blame her for the actions of her family, taken before she was born. Her parents were two of the most feared criminals in the galaxy, leaving a trail of bodies and sorrow behind them before they were finally caught when she were just a babe.
She has spent her whole life hiding, moving on whenever anyone gets too close. The novel starts with her crash landing into a desolate and desperate planet. She is found by scavengers, fighters living on the edge of a society under the rule of violent crime lords.
It is here where Bi'aca finds connection, hope and a reason to stop running.
Sword's Shrine
Description: Nithendale is a peaceful town on the edge of a kingdom. Until monsters attack, amidst a night of death and destruction the Sword of Protection is stolen from the town's temple. Without it greater calamities will hit this peaceful, sleepy town.
Margaret is the blacksmith's apprentice, Jon the son of a wealthy merchant and Fi is a street musician. Their worlds clash that night and these three unlikely heroes set off on a quest to reclaim the Sword of Protection and save their town from destruction.
A story about friendship, adventure and the importance or working together.

Fall of the Reaver
Description: This novel is a grim-dark mystery, as the feared top assassin of the underworld comes under fire on the whims of the elite. The novel is written from the perspectives of secondary characters as everyone hunts for the Reaver, but their identity is concealed by the narration until the final chapter. Worth a re-read.
Bloom Unlimited
Description: A slightly amateurish novel that follows a young man who finds himself in another world. With nothing to his name but a set of strange new powers over plants, he sets out to make a home and find love. Features entire chapters of pseudo-magical farming that doesn't hold up to any real examination. A feel-good light read.

The Lightsworn Chronicles
Description: A Young Adult Trilogy, focusing on the life of Minerva, part of a brilliant kingdom focused around the sun and its light, assited by friends, fellows, and a lovely white owl companion!
In the first book, she must come of age, fighting the difficulties of her training to become a mage, in a series of incidents which gradually grow more and more entangled with the plot until the very kingdom crumbles at her hand for the sake of the greater good.
In the second, despite Minerva's efforts in the prior book, the remnants of the corrupted officials of 'Light' have returned in force, creating a clash of armies at the hands of the Dragon of Punishment, ruler of the Twilightsworn forces who are intent on driving Minerva's people and rebellion from the face of the world. Minerva must rise up against the challenges to slay the dragon, but in the process of doing so sacrifice part of herself as she comes to understand the true identity of the Punishment Dragon...and the tragedies that led it to corruption.
The third book, 'Revival of the Light Road', is Minerva journeying alone, the land scattered and broken, and her hopes dwindling. Over time she comes to find an egg, and eventually hatches it into a brilliant feathered dragon- raising it, Minerva comes to understand the meaning of true peace and justice, returning to her land to help bring it to true glory without the corruption beneath.
